This weekend Folk Festival Sponsors Southern Comfort proudly present a showcase of Americana and Bluegrass music. This exciting line up features some established artists that are performing on the Festival's Main Stages and also some new up and coming talent that are performing in The Den. Hailing from Newquay, Cornwall William the Conqueror are a 3 piece band that channel classic blues, indie and Americana to create their music. They have made their mark across the pond having recently returned from Nashville after performing at AmericanaFest. They shared a stage with Van Morrison and picked up a nomination for Song of the Year at the prestigious UK Americana Awards. Catch them on Stage 2 on Sunday at this year's Festival.
Worry Dolls are a folk duo who have been big hits at Festivals across the UK including Glastonbury. Their debut album Go Get One was recorded in Nashville and produced by East Nashville music veteran Neilson Hubbard. Their music contains sublime harmonies and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. You can see this talented duo on Stage 1 on Friday.
Drawing heavily on Old time Music Amythyst Kiah's music is inspired by vocal stylings of R&B and Country music from the 1950's through to the 70's. Based in Johnson City, TN she transformed into the captivating singer she is today after studying Old Time Music at Tennesee State Universtiy. Her visit to Cambridge Folk Festival is very exciting and you can hear Amythyst's raw and powerful voice on Stage 1, Friday.
The talented combo of Lewis & Leigh will be lighting up Stage 2 on Sunday. This duo's unique sound comes from their respective backgrounds, Al Lewis comes from Wales and Alva Leigh from Mississippi. They released their debut album in 2016 to massive critical acclaim, winning the 'Best UK Album' at the UK Americana Awards.
