An Update on the 2020 Folk Festival

Tuesday 24 March 2020

We know that many people are understandably concerned about this summer’s Cambridge Folk Festival and whether it can still go ahead in light of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. These are challenging times for everyone as we struggle to manage the outbreak and its consequences.

The safety and welfare of our festival-goers is our top priority. We are also thinking of the safety of the artists who make Cambridge special, as well as the staff, contractors and crew who work behind the scenes to make the event possible. We understand that artists and many others working in the live music sector are under tremendous pressure, especially as many have already seen gigs and tours cancelled or postponed.

As a local authority, Cambridge City Council (which puts on the festival) also has other responsibilities and is working very hard to support and protect city residents through this difficult situation. Their health and well-being has to be a part of this decision.

The situation is very fast moving, and we are closely following government advice to help us make a final decision as to what actions we should take to keep our community safe. We hope to share this with you in the coming days.

If you have already booked your tickets, rest assured your tickets are protected. In the event of a cancellation, you will be offered the choice of an immediate refund or the chance to hold onto your tickets for the 2021 edition.
