We're thrilled to have been shortlisted for The Greener Operations Awards at the European Festival Awards for the 2017 Festival. By making the shortlist it underlines the Folk Festival's ongoing commitment to creating a Greener Festival and our aim reduce our overall Carbon Footprint.

We aimed to reduce our Carbon Footprint at the 2017 Festival by employing some simple ideas that went a long way to being more environmentally friendly. For example we used re-fillable pint glasses, which we estimate has saved over 40,000 plastic glasses from being thrown away each year, the creation of recycling points throughout the camping area and inviting Cambridge Friends of The Earth to run a stall to promote the importance of recycling whilst at the festival. The trader stands also donated any leftover bread, fruit and vegetables which was distributed to Cambridge Community Lunches.
The Awards ceremony takes place on the 17th January in Groningen, Netherlands and we've been shortlised alonside some other fantastic Festivals across Europe, to find out more about the awards and to book tickets for the ceremony click HERE
