It was a triumph for traditional music last weekend as Hands Up for Trad celebrated the 14th year of the prestigious MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards with a glittering ceremony held in the Caird Hall, Dundee, one of the biggest events in Scotland’s cultural calendar.

Alan Morrison, Head of Music at Creative Scotland, said: “...Across every category there’s living proof that Scotland’s long-standing traditions are being taken forward by world-class talent.

In particular we're delighted for artists who have appeared regularly at Cambridge: Breabach, who scooped both Folk Band of the Year plus the coveted Album of the Year award for their fifth studio album ‘Astar’; Composer of the Year, Kris Drever; Scots Singer of the Year, Lori Watson known to many at Coldham's Common where she teaches during the Festival and Community Project of the Year award went to Feis Rois Life Long Learning Project - enabling people of all ages to learn to play a musical instrument and connect with traditional Scottish music and Gaelic culture.

Congratulations from Cambridge everyone!
