We’re very excited to announce that Cambridge Live and 1965 club member Christian Raphael MBE have been shortlisted for the Achates Philanthropy Prize. This special prize is a national award that celebrates first-time cultural giving in the arts and culture sector.
Christian was nominated for the prize by Cambridge Live after he donated £1,965 to join the 1965 Club. The club is a special membership scheme aimed at people who love Cambridge Folk Festival and the member’s donations go towards supporting artist development at the Folk Festival.
Christian has been attending the Folk Festival since childhood and his passion and love for the event at Cherry Hinton Hall has led to him becoming one of the founder members of the club. Exceptional donations like Christian’s make a huge difference to the careers of young musicians and helps to continue Cambridge Folk Festival’s long dedication of nurturing new talent.
Cambridge Live and Christian are on the shortlist with 5 other arts organisations across the country and the winners of this year’s prize will be announced during a special ceremony at the Delfina Foundation on Monday 27 November.
