Young people aged 3-12yrs can take part in free trad music workshops, concert and procession at the Coldham’s Common site. Come along and see what it’s all about on Thursday afternoon (1pm and 3pm). Whether you’re a keen performer or have no music experience yet, there’s space for you in our workshops. If you’re not sure if you can join in, come and meet our team anyway - we’ll be happy to see you.
Workshops take place at the stripy marquee at Coldham’s Common campsite.
Participants must not be left unsupervised by parents and guardians - seats and food/drink stalls nearby.

Tutors
Lori Watson & Emma Durkan deliver our fun and friendly workshops with a team of brilliant music student assistants.
Lori Watson is a fiddle player and singer from the Scottish Borders. She has been leading our Coldham’s Common workshops since 2008. With a PhD in traditional music, Lori is a world expert on the musical traditions of Scotland and the UK and much in demand for her fun, relaxed workshops.
Currently Lead Tutor for the flagship Tolbooth Trad music workshops for Stirling Council since 2006 and Lecturer and Examiner in Scottish Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland since 2008, for 10 years, Lori was Senior Tutor at Glasgow Fiddle Workshop where she developed the GFW Juniors classes and teaching resources. Lori was a tutor on the Folk and Traditional Music degree at Newcastle University (2008-2012) and an arts tutor for South Lanarkshire Council, piloting the Early Years traditional music workshops.
Lori performs with her own band, with Scots/Norsk band Boreas, trio Rule of Three and an array of collaborative projects.
Emma Durkan is a fiddle player and harpist from Ayrshire. She has been working with the Coldham’s Common workshops since 2009.
Emma graduated from the Folk and Traditional Music degree at Newcastle University, previously studying at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Junior Academy and North Ayrshire Traditional Music Group. She has a wealth of teaching experience and is a regular workshop tutor at Sidmouth Folk Week where she has led fiddle workshops for young people and adults, she also leads fiddle, harp and singing workshops for all ages and abilities in her hometown of North Ayrshire, as well as being a private music tutor.
Emma currently performs with Speldosa and Caleb Major.
