Broadcast Partner
English Folk Expo has been supporting the English folk, roots and acoustic music sector since 2012, through artist development programmes and showcasing opportunities. The organisation runs an annual showcase alongside Manchester Folk Festival each October, with invited music industry delegates from the UK and beyond seeing artists across three days.
One of its key initiatives is a 12-month Artist Mentoring Programme, supporting selected emerging artists in their professional development. Running from October 2019 – October 2020, participants are partnered with a mentor for the year and offered invaluable insight and experience to help them perform in new markets, seek funding, expand their network and prepare for international showcases through understanding the wider music industry. From help with stagecraft skills to understanding the steps needed to release an album, this is a unique opportunity.
Cambridge Folk Festival is one of English Folk Expo’s industry partners and as such is providing participants with the chance to play a short set in the Festival’s emerging artist performance space, The Den, in 2020 and receive feedback from expert stagecraft tutor, Nancy Kerr.
All participants on the Artist Mentoring Programme will receive transport, accommodation, per diem and a small fee for each performance included as part of the offer. To be eligible to apply for this programme, you must be resident in the UK and perform English folk, roots or acoustic music (including singer-songwriter, roots/Americana and traditional). Availability for all dates listed in the programme must be confirmed.
Applications must be received by the end of the day on Friday 14 June.
